Are you one of the 302 people I am looking to find?

Passersby passing by

If you saw my latest mischievous act, and haven't heard of onematchstick before this, then you might be wondering why I graffiti'd "trade with me".

I believe... well it's more than a belief... I know like I know like I know that there are 302 more people out there who'd love a new funky springleap.com designer T-shirt and who'd support me in trading with me for one of the 375 T-shirts I have to trade. So I'm trying to find those 302 people (I've already traded 73 T-shirts, so at the time of writing this I have 302 T-shirts left to trade).

You see, I'm aiming to turn a matchstick into an office through a series of trades, where each trade gets bigger and bigger in perceived value, and takes me closer to my end goal of getting offices.

I've done 9 trades so far and for my tenth trade, I am trading the t-shirts on individually. So if you want to be part of this and trade with me, send me an email and read the instructions here on how to do the trade with me.

Are you one of the 302 people I am looking to find?

Carol and Telana- the Mischief Makers

( PS- this is my accomplice Carol who helped me with doing the graffiti, and me!)

DJ Al is in the onematchstick movie!

Next, on our day of filming, we zooted off to Melville to the funky Transky to meet up with DJ Al your Pal to shoot the trade I made with him: 1x Hot Air Balloon Flight for 1x Party.

Within a few minutes DJ Al had his deck all set up and we were bopping to some cool tunes as Jarrod set up his dolly and got the lighting just right. I got a chance to spin the decks too, after DJ Al gave me a brief lesson. Man, that was fun, playing around with the beat and all those buttons, experimenting with what little knob did what! I can see why DJ's have such a great time when they're tuning the tunes.

It was great too to catch up with DJ Al. Since we traded a lot has happened for him: he's got engaged, bought a super duper super bike, and created his own group on Facebook. He's the King of Entertainment and it's worth joining his group! Because if you're a member and get them a confirmed booking for one of their Karaoke DJ's, you get a R500 drinking tab on DJ Al's account! Sweeeet!

DJ Al still hasn't been yet for his flight in the hot air balloon- so I hope he gets some time in his hectic schedule to fit it in. I'm glad though that he managed to fit in the shooting of his scene in the onematchstick movie- it's a great scene, and an even better one because of his personal appearance! Thanks DJ Al, my pal!

Filming the 'books for wine' trade

Our next full day of shooting 4 scenes for the onematchstick movie was on Wednesday 30 September. Our first location was Solly Kramers in Parkhurst, where Wally of Solly allowed us to use an aisle to do our filming. Wally's the manager, and he's a cool guy, letting us take over an aisle like that... and he offers a good price on First Sighting, so we heard.

Nick and Telana

Nick was his charming self as usual. In between scenes, he was telling us about the story of how First Sighting got its name, from way back when that dude Bartholomeu Diaz was trying to get to the East and had literally a 'first sighting' of the Cape. Nick also got us up to speed with the happenings at Strandveld Vineyards since I traded the 2 books with him for 2 cases of his First Sighting wine. They have a new range of Standveld wines, including the Strandveld Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc. The Strandveld Sauvignon Blanc has won quite a few awards, including the Gold Medal for the 2008 SA Young Wine Show. You go Nick!

Jarrod filming Nick of First Sighting wine

This was the first time during the filming of the onematchstick movie that Jarrod pulled out his dolly from his car. It's awesome how creative these creative guys can be: with a few plastic pipes and old skateboard parts you can have a nifty, little, portable dolly that does the trick just right.

The filming of the 'books for wine' trade went quite quickly, and next thing I know I'm sitting in the car park with Jarrod and we're scheming if we can fit in another shoot before we meet with DJ Al for his scene.

We did manage to fit in filming my first trade: the matchstick for the ordinary green ballpoint pen that I traded with Nikki. We filmed this scene in my mom's office and we even got tea and biscuits (thanks Mom and Sally!).

The onematchstick movie Update

Filming of the onematchstick movie is in full swing!

I met up with the rockstars at Missing Link a few weeks ago and got introduced to the multi-talented Jarrod: my producer, editor and camera man. The team talked me through their ideas which I loved, and without giving too much away, here's a sneak peak behind the scenes of the onematchstick Movie.

Eran Eyal, one of the guys who I am busy trading the T-shirts with, was in Jozi at the right time, and we grabbed the opportunity to shoot a scene or two with him. He fitted us in his busy schedule and we met up at Primi Piatti Rosebank. Springleap T-shirts were all over the place, and we had loads of fun!

Eran and Telana, with Jarrod behind the camera

I had my first taste of what it must be like to be a movie star- and it's turned out to be not as easy as I imagined. We worked on the script right there and then, and thank goodness my friend Gen came along for the fun, as she helped me get the script just right (she also took a lot of the photo's- Thanks Gen!). There's a lot to tell about my story, but only a short amount of time to get what I want to say across, so we had to choose the words wisely. And then I had to remember them! From the excitement of it being T-shirt Trade day - the day I started trading the T-shirts - and the first film shoot, plus the fact that I had only got a few hours of sleep, we had a good laugh at my few tongue-tied moments!

Ha! got my lines right for a change :)

Eran's a fascinating guy- besides the passion he has for Springleap and their Tee's, he has a passion for life that's extraordinary and catchy. He left his mark on the movie with some of his creative, in the moment ideas and we even learnt a bit about martial arts after the shoot!

Eran adding this creative touch!

So for our first shoot, it was a great hour or so with lots of laughs, and we even got to hear Jarrod say "that's a wrap people!"
