I lost my mojo... but found it again

Wow! It's the New Year already and I haven't written a post since finishing the Epic T-shirt Trade in September last year.

Good reason for that though.

I burnt out. Like this matchstick.

A burnt out onematchstick

Well, that is how I felt.

It had been a year of studying full time at Raizcorp, working full time on and in Inner Coaching, starting my own online TV Show Let's Talk Possibility, becoming a director of YBSA, helping to develop the MCF's supervision programme, only wearing T-shirts (that wardrobe restriction did cause a level of stress for even the tom-boy in me!), and creatively engaging all my gears to finish trading the springleap T-shirts.

So yeah, I was pretty tired.

Rest is good. Time contemplating is useful. Re-connecting with my purpose and my reasons for turning a matchstick into an office ignited something again. Throw in a couple of transformational coaching sessions too, and time with my family in Cape Town, and voila- I've found my mojo again.

I'm back. I'm ready.

With also many calls and meetings and emails and options explored over the last few months, and becoming a full page spread in the Brainstorm Magazine, I've now made some decisions. And that will lead to an announcement of my next step.

So, just a little more patience please. You'll know soon enough what the 375 Springleap T-shirts have turned into, that you can then make me offers on, in order to help me get to the offices. And help those entrepreneurs we need to create more jobs. Yeah!

Till then, rock on!

Hallelujah! I've finished!

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah-hallelujah-ha-leee-lu-jah!

And if you don't like my singing along with the chorus of angels in my head, then try this video clip of the Johann Strauss Orchestra and the Harlem Gospel Choir! They do a much better rendition!

This is what I've been hearing in my mind since Wednesday morning 21 September. As it was then that I got the final nod from the awesome team at Springleap – to say they have accounted for all my 375 T-shirt trades that they facilitated for my tenth trade.

Remember – way back in August 2009 I traded the party with DJ Al for 150 people with Eran and Eric for 375 Springleap T-shirts? And then I started my epic trade of trading all 375 T-shirts with 375 people?

Well, 780 days later, I have finished this trade! Hallelujah! Thank you to all of you who took part in this trade and helped me make it happen. And to those who supported me and cheered me on!

Now. The next steps.

1. I have finished my "wearing only Springleap T-shirts" pledge that led me to develop an 'Ellen Look' – so now summer dresses are back!

2. I have to decide now what to trade on up with.

The nature of the deal I made with the T-shirts, means I get to choose what am going to put on offer to trade.

So, while I mull over a few ideas and options, if you are reading this and think you have an idea of a fab item of some sort (product/ services/ experience/ etc), then get in touch with me and let’s chat!

Otherwise, watch this space – I'll be announcing soon what my next step will be! I think I'm going to surprise myself!

My "Ellen DeGeneres Look"

On the 2 August 2009 I started my long Tshirt Trade with Eric and Eran of Springleap. What an epic long trade it's turned out to be: a whole 2 years and 4 days to date.

We threw a competition to design the official onematchstick Tshirt. And then I traded nearly a hundred in a few weeks of launching the code to track the trades. Then things slowed down...

I am often asked if I think I made a mistake making this trade. I don't believe I have. I made it for very specific reasons, which will unfold as I progress with my future trades. And though I did not think that it would be such a difficult (at times), and long process to trade on the 375 T-shirts (especially such awesome, funky, designer T-shirts like Springleap T's), I will finish this trade. And soon!

To keep myself motivated and show the few nay-sayers my commitment to this trade, I pledged on 27 August 2010 to only wear Springleap T-shirts until I finished this trade. That meant that every day I would put on a Springleap T-shirt, and remind myself of my mission. And then it was easy too to show a sample to people I met who expressed interest in trading with me.

And I have kept that pledge to date. And will for however long it takes me to trade the last remaining 27 T-shirts.

I had some challenges with this dress-code pledge in the last year. Like when I had business meetings to go to – I soon learnt how to "corporatize" my T-shirts. Then there was a formal wedding a friend asked me to attend as his date. I hired a Tuxedo Tailcoat and added high heels, to dress up my T-shirt for that occasion. And then the elegant Feather Awards, where I was a finalist, I dug out my glitzy poncho that I got on my travels to India for a friend's wedding.

Recently I noticed that I’ve developed a certain "look". After starting my own podcast show with my friend and co-host Jack, I started looking for mentors to help develop my skills. I've been getting some inspiration from watching TV talk shows, and often catch the Ellen DeGeneres show while I have lunch. And then I noticed how my pledge has led me to pick up an "Ellen look".

My Ellen DeGeneres Look
(image of Ellen from here)

Living in jeans and a T-shirt and a blazer sure is comfortable. And even though it's comfy, I am so looking forward to finding my own look again, and exploring some girly-girl dresses this summer, and less of the T-shirts and jeans.

So, with only 27 T-shirts to go, I am wondering if I'll manage to trade them all by the end of the month – making it a yearlong Pledge and a 2 years and one month Trade. I have this Adventure Talk coming up, these 3-way trades, and also the Tattoo Picnic Party to help finish this trade.

Do you think I can do it?

Walter Pike spoke for one matchstick

Joburg- you've been such a great sport with supporting onematchstick!

Joburg Rocks! Thank you for your support!

A great bunch of Joburg-ites ventured out into the cold and found their way to 44 Stanley, to The (vibey) Room at Il Giardino to hear Walter Pike talk for onematchstick.

It was an enjoyable evening, with lots of networking and learning. Walter shared how "the internet is word of mouth on steroids" and profiled case studies including Vodacom, Cell C, Nando's and FNB that my friends are still talking about. He made the new Organic Marketing so accessible and practical, with examples from Egypt, to Charlie Chaplin, to surfing and Big Mac’s.

Some of the tweets that were flying around included:

Collection of tweets from Walter Pikes talk

I would like to thank Walter for trading his talk with me for one of my Springleap T-shirts, and helping me to trade another 32 T-shirts through this event! (At the time of writing this I have 44 T-shirts to go until I can move onto my next step)

Walter Pike talking for onematchstick

A big thanks too goes to Grieta for allowing us to use Il Giardino to host the talk and for Rika for putting me in touch with Michelle of The Sound Corporation for providing the sound equipment we needed, and to Jelena for the projector.

And thanks to all of you who attended the evening and traded with me!

You all rock, and made the evening a huge success! *mwah!*

The Room at Il Giardino, our venue for 29 June!

Happy Fathers Day to all the Fathers out there!

I was day dreaming today that if my Father were here, I would have taken him for lunch at Il Giardino at 44 Stanley. He would have loved the vibe, sitting under the wild olives trees, with the gypsy folk jazz band playing, having a glass of wine and some pizza.

The Room at Il Giardino at 44 Stanley

We would have been brainstorming ideas to help me find the 50 more people to attend Walter Pike's talk for onematchstick, to finish my tenth trade. I imagine that the conversation would have also covered topics like business (he was an entrepreneur too!) and politics and how he loved his country and the spiritual flow of life!

My Dad would have also enjoyed laughing with Grieta, the lovely lady who runs Il Giardino and is sponsoring the venue for Walter's talk. He would have got all fired up with the negotiations I had with Christof who is looking into helping me with the audio-visual equipment for the event. And he would have chatted too to some of the other lovely people I met under the trees, like the Pieters family, and Sean and Michelle!

I gave Michelle one of my matchstick business cards, and she exclaimed that it reminded her of her wedding! At each guest's seat they put a single matchstick. And each matchstick had stamped on it: "a perfect match!" My dad would have smiled with me at hearing that story!

So I am so looking forward to hearing Walter's Talk entitled "Recalculating – a new guide to marketing" with my friends, old and new, who are supporting me in getting closer to my offices!

It's going to be a lovely evening learning, with fabulous people, fine wine, pizza's and chandeliers!

Join us – I have 50 Springleap T-shirts left!

For more info check out the event on Facebook or this blog post.
And give me a call on 0837302979 to RSVP!

And for all of you who's Fathers are around - enjoy celebrating them! Life's too short to not bask in their company!

Calling all entreprenuers and designers!

Entrepreneurship has always been around me.

My father and grandfather started their own engineering firm out of a cow shed, and I can remember as a young child visiting the mines and the factory and helping with counting the cents for the wages.

My mother and grandmother started a home industries shop, and I remember helping to deliver the thirty chocolate cakes and dozens of sausage rolls every day.

My work history has involved quite a few start ups, and ground-breaking projects which were the first of their kind.

So it's not much of a surprise that I find entrepreneurship so fascinating, and ended up starting my own business seven years ago. Then the one matchstick project followed, with the aim of not only helping my own business with some office space, but also with the ultimate and more important goal of helping other entrepreneurs to get their businesses off the ground, by offering some of the office space to them.

This journey has led me to meet many more amazing entrepreneurs. Two of those entrepreneurs who I traded with for 375 T-shirts are Eran Eyal and Eric Edelstein of Springleap.com, who provide a platform for up and coming designers. And my story also reached Allon Raiz, an entrepreneur who runs Africa's only unfunded for-profit business prosperator, touching many other entrepreneurs lives by helping them develop and grow their businesses (including my own).

Eran and TelanaEric and Telana

"Entrepreneurship is not just about business. It's about the birthing of an idea, the tension between fear and hope, and the ability to live in the space between what could be and what is." – Allon Raiz

Allon Raiz and Telana

Why I mention these three entrepreneurs here is because of how our paths have crossed- again. Allon, together with Eran and Eric are now running a competition to find a T-shirt design that encapsulates entrepreneurship. How exciting!

And they are giving the winning designer R10 000 (US$1250) in cash, an inspiration pack and worldwide exposure. Wow!

So I'm calling all designers and entrepreneurs: here's an opportunity to have some fun! All you need to do is express your understanding of this phenomenon called entrepreneurship in a black and white design, and submit it by the 8th December 2010, and you could win!

For all the details and rules and dates and suggestions, check out the "I am an entrepreneur" competition page.

Have fun, and let me know which design is yours, I'd love to check it out and possibly vote for it to win!

How many Springleap Tshirts is an Xbox worth?

A while ago I was asked to share my one matchstick story with 700 of our brightest students at the Student Village Womens Leadership Conference. That led me to trade with Alon and Pepe for my flights to Durban and Cape Town to present at the conference there.

At the Johannesburg conference, Charlene and Krilona from Microsoft were in the audience.

Charlene contacted me a few days later asking if I would share my story again with her, her colleague Vis, and their team at Microsoft. I said "YES! As long as we trade for it!"
They said "YES!" too! And I had such fun chatting to them all :)

Collecting the Xbox from Charlene at Microsoft

So here is the three-way trade between us all:

One Xbox 360 Arcade on offer

I have on offer a super duper brand new Xbox 360 Arcade with 256MB of memory so you can store your favourite games and play more!

Need I say more? For those that need the details, check wiki here.

Lovely Xbox up for a one matchstick auction!

How this Three-Way is going to work:

Charlene and Vis have given me the Xbox to trade for 5 of my Springleap T-shirts. I need to find someone who wants the Xbox and will put up the cash for the T-shirts.

Now since Charlene and Vis started talking with me, I sneakily mentioned online that I thought I was going to get an Xbox to trade on, and some of my friends and followers have already started contacting me to trade with me for this Xbox! It's in hot demand!

So: even though the team at Microsoft only want five T-shirts for this Xbox, I am going to trade with whoever offers to pay for the most T-shirts for the Xbox. We're going to have a one matchstick Auction (bidorbuy style!) where the currency is Springleap T-shirts!

Bear in mind that this Xbox is worth R2499.00.
Each T-shirt is worth R183 and then there is shipping too (R36 for first 5 T-shirts, and then additional R5 per T-shirt).

So- opening "bid" in the currency of Springleap T-shirts is five T-shirts (which, with shipping, is a value of R951).

Bid increments is one Springleap T-shirt (R183 plus extra R5 for shipping of that T-shirt) which is a value of R188.

Other rules:
Auction opens now, and closes today at 17:00.
Bids must be placed in writing.
Highest bid received by 17:00 today wins.
If two or more people place the same bid, timing takes preference: whoever places that bid first will count.
If the winning bidder defaults, that is, doesn't pay up within 48 hours, then they are disqualified and it goes to the runner up bidder.

Get it?
  • Opening bid is 5 T-shirts – R951
  • Next bid would be 6 T-shirts – R951 + an extra R188, totalling R1139
  • Next bid would be for 7 T-shirts – R1139 + an extra R188, totalling R1327
  • Auction closes at 17:00 today- that's 17h00 on Wednesday 6 October 2010
  • Highest bid wins.
So… Uhummmhmm *clearing my throat to get my best auction-ing voice ready*

I have a super duper brand new Xbox 360 Arcade with 256MB of memory.
Opening bid is five T-shirts.
Who will give me five T-shirts?
Five T-shirts?
Going?

- the winner will put up the cash and get the Xbox,
- The team at Microsoft will get the Springleap T-shirts

Happy Spring Time!

Get two Castle Lager's for free!

Fridays seem to be one matchstick days - I somehow end up making a big trade or move on a Friday. Today is one of those Fridays.

I have finally worked out, and have a plan for, how I am going to make the beer offer that I wrote about a while back work. And the few people I have mentioned my plan to smile and say "awesome!"

So here's the plan:

I've accepted my friend Charl's offer of sponsoring two Castle Lager beers per Springleap T-shirt that I trade from this moment on.

What that means is if you trade with me for one of my 246 Springleap T-shirts that I have left to finish my tenth trade, then you will get two Castle Lager Beers for free!

How will you get the Castles? Well, that's been the tricky bit. So what will be happening is that sometime in the next four to six weeks, there will be a BIG get-together, on a weekend, at a soon to be confirmed venue, where you can come along and enjoy your two beers. (And if friends trade with me from Cape town, I will organise a get-together there too to give you your beers.)

And that get-together is going to have an extra twist to it as well! But until I have set it all up, that extra twist is a secret!

So- now is the time to trade with me for one of my T-shirts.

The Castle Lager Offer

How to trade with me:

The easiest way is to trade some of your cash- R183 to be precise- and trade it by purchasing any of the Springleap T-shirts, and using the coupon code onematchstick so that we can track it (detailed instructions here). Contact me too to let me know so I can get you on the 'Castle Lager VIP List'.

OR – If you don't want a T-shirt, but still want soem Castle's, then you can trade some cash for one of the many Three-Way Trade offers I have on the go. You can get:

To summarise then:

Trade with me for one of my Springleap, designer, limited edition T-shirts for R183, including delivery to your door by courier, and you will get to help me finish my tenth trade, be a part of the one matchstick story, AND get two Castle Lagers for free at a funky event coming up soon!

Longest Prize Giving ever!

This must be the longest Prize Giving ever!

Steven Tu won the one matchstick T-shirt Challenge last year, and over the last few months we've been meeting up to give him his prizes.

He won this Swatch Watch donated by my late friend and mentor, Craig, which I gave to Tu when we first met up at a Mugg & Bean last year.

He also won R1000 to spend on bidorbuy.co.za, which Andy gave to him at the Johannesburg Premiere of the one matchstick Movie and Tu has had fun spending it already!

Steven, Telana and Andy of bidorbuy.co.za

Tim of Poken.co.za gave him his Poken, at a tweetup we had recently in Bryanston.

Tim of Poken, Steven Tu with his new Poken and Telana

And he won 3 of his Mission: Not Impossible T-shirts from Springleap.com and a coaching voucher from me.

His Prize Giving hasn't ended yet, though. He's still gets 10 VIP tickets to the Springleap Party- which Springleap will be throwing when I finish trading all the T-shirts.

I've so enjoyed getting to know Tu over all these get-togethers. He's witty, fun-loving, warm and the kind of guy who gets excited about things. Like this bag: he's really, really, REALLY excited about this bag. He's been known to say: "Better to be excited about nothing than have nothing excite you." And I can't help but agree, Tu!

I reckon too that if there would be a person first in line to receive more "time" if someone ever invented a way to give us more hours in a day, it would be Tu. If he's not socialising, working, designing a new T-shirt, travelling, blogging or twittering, he's kickboxing! The only way he managed to finish the design for the Mission: Not Impossible T-shirt was to stay up till the wee hours of the morning.

Which I am so glad he did. Because it's an awesome design. Tu said the last time we met that there are some designs that you just can't imagine on a poster, or billboard, or in a magazine. They only seem to fit on a T-shirt. And that's where he puts them. Check out some of his other designs here, and if you like his latest one on Springleap.com - go vote for it!

Congratulations once again Tu for designing the official one matchstick T-shirt: Mission: Not Impossible, and thank you all your continued support for my project. You rock!

Behind the scenes of the movie

Here's what a few of the fabulous people I traded with so far, have to say about one matchstick. These interviews were filmed during the making of 'one matchstick, The Movie'.

Featured in this video are:

Nick Diemont of who traded 2 cases of First Sighting Wine for 2 books.

DJ Al Smyth of 084Extreme.co.za who traded a party for 150 people with me for a hot air balloon flight.

Eran Eyal of Springleap.com who is busy trading 375 T-shirts with me for the Party for 150 people.

Are you one of the 302 people I am looking to find?

Passersby passing by

If you saw my latest mischievous act, and haven't heard of onematchstick before this, then you might be wondering why I graffiti'd "trade with me".

I believe... well it's more than a belief... I know like I know like I know that there are 302 more people out there who'd love a new funky springleap.com designer T-shirt and who'd support me in trading with me for one of the 375 T-shirts I have to trade. So I'm trying to find those 302 people (I've already traded 73 T-shirts, so at the time of writing this I have 302 T-shirts left to trade).

You see, I'm aiming to turn a matchstick into an office through a series of trades, where each trade gets bigger and bigger in perceived value, and takes me closer to my end goal of getting offices.

I've done 9 trades so far and for my tenth trade, I am trading the t-shirts on individually. So if you want to be part of this and trade with me, send me an email and read the instructions here on how to do the trade with me.

Are you one of the 302 people I am looking to find?

The onematchstick movie Update

Filming of the onematchstick movie is in full swing!

I met up with the rockstars at Missing Link a few weeks ago and got introduced to the multi-talented Jarrod: my producer, editor and camera man. The team talked me through their ideas which I loved, and without giving too much away, here's a sneak peak behind the scenes of the onematchstick Movie.

Eran Eyal, one of the guys who I am busy trading the T-shirts with, was in Jozi at the right time, and we grabbed the opportunity to shoot a scene or two with him. He fitted us in his busy schedule and we met up at Primi Piatti Rosebank. Springleap T-shirts were all over the place, and we had loads of fun!

Eran and Telana, with Jarrod behind the camera

I had my first taste of what it must be like to be a movie star- and it's turned out to be not as easy as I imagined. We worked on the script right there and then, and thank goodness my friend Gen came along for the fun, as she helped me get the script just right (she also took a lot of the photo's- Thanks Gen!). There's a lot to tell about my story, but only a short amount of time to get what I want to say across, so we had to choose the words wisely. And then I had to remember them! From the excitement of it being T-shirt Trade day - the day I started trading the T-shirts - and the first film shoot, plus the fact that I had only got a few hours of sleep, we had a good laugh at my few tongue-tied moments!

Ha! got my lines right for a change :)

Eran's a fascinating guy- besides the passion he has for Springleap and their Tee's, he has a passion for life that's extraordinary and catchy. He left his mark on the movie with some of his creative, in the moment ideas and we even learnt a bit about martial arts after the shoot!

Eran adding this creative touch!

So for our first shoot, it was a great hour or so with lots of laughs, and we even got to hear Jarrod say "that's a wrap people!"

FAQ's about the T-shirt Trade

So people keep asking me these questions, so I thought I might as well share them here as you might be wondering too:

1) What is this T-shirt stuff all about?
I'm in the process of making my 10th trade. What I have to trade on is 375 Springleap.com T-shirts. I'm trading each T-shirt with 375 people for cash, through Springleap.com.

So to simplify this trade- if you want to trade with me you just need to buy any Springleap.com T-shirt online, and make sure you use the coupon code onematchstick so we can track that you are trading with me.

Then you'll be one of the 375 people I trade with- pop me an email so I know and can add you to my story :)

2) I missed T-shirt Trade Day- is it too late to trade with you?
T-shirt Trade Day- 18th September- was the day I started trading on the 375 T-shirts. It was after the competition to find the official onematchstick T-shirt, and was the day the code (which is onematchstick) to track the trades went live. Now the trading continues until I trade all the T-shirts on.

So no, it's not too late to trade with me. At the time of writing this I have only traded 46 T-shirts, and still have 76 pledges to convert to trades, and that leaves me with 254 T-shirts I still need to trade on. So please trade with me, and soon, so my tenth trade doesn't take forever. I can't wait to see what the next trade will be!

3) Do I have to trade with you for the official onematchstick T-shirt?
No. You can choose ANY of the Springleap.com T-shirts.

4) How do I trade with you for a T-shirt?
Easy Peasy.

How to trade with me by buying your T-shirt(s) and make them count towards my onematchstick trade:

1. If you haven't registered yet on Springleap.com, now's the time to do so.

2. When you are logged in, choose the T-shirts you want. You can choose ANY design.
a. Click on the SHOP button at the top of the page to see the available designs.
b. Or choose the official onematchstick T-shirt in the "being printed" section.

3. When you find the T-shirt you want, click on the size you want (there is a link which explains the sizing and the ladies T-shirts are a lady's cut). Once you click on the size, it gets added to your "shopping cart".

4. When you've finished adding your T-shirts to your shopping cart, click on the shopping cart icon on the top right hand of the screen.

5. Enter in your delivery details, and where it says "if you have a Springleap coupon, enter it here:" you enter the code, which is: onematchstick (all lower case, one word). This is a VERY IMPORTANT STEP! Please remember to add the code!

6. Click the confirm and pay button.

7. Check your details, and then you can choose to pay by credit card or EFT.

8. Just follow the prompts and you will have finalised your T-shirt trade with me :)

9. Let me know when you've made your trade via email or sms to 0837302979.

10. It will be great, if you want, to email me a photo of you in your Springleap T-shirt once it's delivered, as I'll be creating a page on my blog of all the fantastic people I am trading with in their Springleap T-shirts.

5) How do I know what size T-shirt to get?
Go dig in your cupboard for your favourite T-shirt. Measure its width and height, and then compare those measurements on the chart on this page to work out your Springleap size.

LADIES- the ladies cut it super nice, so don't worry, you'’ll look fab in your Springleap Tee!

6) Springleap.com doesn't have my size in the T-shirt I want. Now what?
No problem. Let Springleap know what T-shirt and size you want, and when there's enough requests they'll reprint that T-shirt.

So those are the most asked questions. Do you have another one? Let me know, thanks! I hope to trade with you soon!

and the Winner is....

Voting for the official onematchstick T-shirt ended yesterday.

10 designs were submitted, and by golly - each one was unique and brilliant! I want to write more about each of the designs over the next week or two, but for now, a big THANK YOU to all the designers who took part and came up with such creative and wonderful designs. Thank you!!

The top 2 designs were so close to each other, so very close!

It is with great delight that I announce that the winner is Tu's design entitled Mission: NOT Impossible.

Mission: NOT Impossible by Tu

So, so close behind this design was Caric's design called Fire works.

Fire works by Caric

Congratulations Tu- you've won the Prize worth R5300, including the R1000 to spend on bidorbuy.co.za

TRADE DAY- 18 September 2009
Today is also the day I've coined "T-shirt Trade Day" and it marks the final stages to my tenth trade. I've received 116 pledges from people saying they will trade with me for one of the 375 springleap.com T-shirts. So I'm looking now for 259 more people to trade with.

The official onematchstick T-shirt is now available as one of the T-shirts to choose from to trade with me. This T-shirt is about to go into production, so if you choose to trade with me for the official onematchstick T-shirt, delivery will take a few weeks. But don't let that stop you- it's an AWESOME T-shirt. And there will be a very limited number made, so this is your only chance to own one. There is also going to be a limited time that this T-shirt will be available too- so you better move fast if you want one.

Back to Trade Day. The 116 people have been patiently waiting for today to trade one of my 375 T-shirts for some of their cash. They've needed the official onematchstick T-shirt to be available, and also the special CODE. So here it is, what you've been waiting for - the code that you need to use in the "coupon" section on springleap.com when you make your purchase, so that Springleap.com can track the sales that are to be counted for my 10th trade on onematchstick, is:

onematchstick

Ha! Would it have been anything else? Remember though, that the code is case sensitive- so make sure you use all small letters and one word.

Contact me when you've made your trade so I can track the progress with my 10th trade. And email or call me on 0837302979 if you have any queries

Thanks!

Again, Well done to Tu! Check out the official onematchstick T-shirt here.

Thanks also go to the fabulous team at Springleap.com for running the competition for me, and to the super duper sponsors for the Prize, being bidorbuy.co.za, springleap.com, and poken.co.za

Vote for your favourite onematchstick T-shirt

So the designs are in. They are all listed on springleap.com. And they are all fab!

So fab that you need to help by casting your vote for which one you would wear, so that the most voted for T-shirt will then become the official onematchstick T-shirt.

And the designer of that most voted for T-shirt will win the prize valued at R5300, including the R1000 to spend on bidorbuy.co.za, the poken, the swatch, the coaching, the VIP tickets and the T-shirts!

So to vote all you need to do is:

1. Go to and register with the funky site springleap.com.

2. Make sure you're logged to springleap.com.

3. Click on "vote" from the top menu, or go to the voting page here.

4. In the section "One Matchstick t-shirt design competition" click on one of the onematchstick T-shirt designs - any one for now.

5. If you're logged in, you'll see the voting options: thumbs up- thumbs down and 3 other options in between.

6. Vote by choosing one of the thumbs!

7. It'll then bring up the next design for you to vote for, and keep going until you've cast a vote on each of the designs.

Easy peasy!

You can also leave comments for the designers in the "shout back" section. I'd love to hear your comments, and I'm sure the designers would too!

Cool. So go vote!

Let me know if you have any questions :)

VOTING CLOSES THIS THURSDAY 17th September- because Friday 18th is T-shirt Trade Day- the day I officially start trading the 375 t-shirts with 375 people!

Some of my T-shirts are on these shelves!

Tomorrow the entries for the onematchstick T-shirt Challenge closes, and voting starts!

I'm so looking forward to seeing the designs. I've heard a few descriptions, and seen a few mock ups, and they are all so wonderful- I don't know which one I'd choose! Thank goodness I won't be choosing, and you will be voting for your favourite. That way, you get to have your say in what will be the official onematchstick T-shirt.

I went to Cape Town for a quick trip to see my family there, and for a few days of holiday to find the Namaqualand daisies, and the display was spectacular! You can read about it on Rod's blog here.

Jumping for flowers!

Our theme song for our daisy road trip was Nickelback's "if today was your last day" and it turned out to be even more significant to me. I lost a close friend and mentor over that weekend, and it's been such a reminder that 'each day is a gift and not a given right'. I've resolved even more to live each moment to the fullest! Sounds so cliché, but I like some clichés!

While in Cape Town I got to try the pumpkin and marshmallow milkshake from Fire and Ice- the funkiest restaurant I know. I also visited the fab team at Springleap.com. What a buzz! There were people coming and going, groovy music playing, phones ringing, meetings happening, and couriers collecting T-shirts to be delivered! And in between the busy-ness I got to meet the team and see the store room. I even admired the view of the mountain from the balcony- a nice breather from the buzz inside.

The Springleap.com Team and me!

375 of those T-shirts in the storeroom are allocated to onematchstick, and I'm busy trading them on! At the time of writing this, I have 107 pledges to trade with me :) Yehaa!

The Prize for the T-shirt Challenge

If you don't ask... the answer is 100% "no!"

If you do ask, the odds go to 50% "no", 50% "yes". I asked, and got more yes's than no's.

When I finalised the trade with Eric and Eran, and learnt more about the cool website Springleap.com, I realised that I needed to find an splendid prize for the T-shirt Challenge. Otherwise there wouldn't be much incentive for peeps out there to design a remarkable Tee and enter.

So I started asking people and even put out a tweet saying I was looking for sponsors. One of the things that keeps me going with this project is the warm response I get from people.

5 people stepped forward and answered my question. 5 awesome people!

Eric and Eran offered me 10 VIP tickets to the Springleap Party- the one they are going to hold once we've finalised our trade and they have the voucher for DJ Al.
And they are also throwing in 3 of the winning T-shirts.

Andy offered R1000 to spend on bidorbuy.co.za, and they have a heap of items to choose from.

Tim and Amor of poken.co.za have also donated a poken.

Poken People- Tim, Eric and Amor

And Craig met me for a drink at Newscafe and threw in the nifty "Disco Vibe" Swatch Watch (Model supb100).

I have also donated a 2 hour breakthrough coaching session, which can be face-to-face or over the phone/skype. After all, if these 5 guys can make contributions to my dream, I'm sure willing to step up too!

So I am delighted to present the prize for the onematchstick T-shirt Challenge. It's a fabulous bundle of things to the value of R5300 and can be enjoyed by anyone in South Africa (and even abroad-you'll just have to come to South Africa for a visit for the party):
  • R1000 to spend on bidorbuy.co.za- Africa's largest online market place
  • A "Disco Vibe" Swatch Watch
  • A poken
  • A 2 hour Breakthrough Coaching session
  • 10 VIP tickets to the Springleap.com Party
  • 3 of the winning T-Shirts

So that's the prize. What are you waiting for? Check out the onematchstick T-Shirt Challenge details here and enter now!
